Excel

The tool everyone uses and few get the most out of.

Excel is still where a large share of any company’s operations lives, and at TintoDev we see it up close because many of our projects start by replacing a spreadsheet that grew more than it should have. That gives us a clear view of what is worth learning. Well-written formulas, pivot tables and Power Query save hours every week and stay useful even if another tool shows up tomorrow. Macros have their place for automating personal tasks, but a macro that an entire process depends on is usually a warning sign. We pick courses built on real office and finance cases, updated for Microsoft 365 and functions like XLOOKUP and FILTER. Excel is one of the topics with the most courses in Spanish; the English reference courses make most sense for VBA and financial modelling.

Who it is for

  • People who use Excel every day and feel they do by hand things that should be automatic.
  • Finance, accounting and administration professionals who build reports and models.
  • Anyone preparing for a role that asks for "advanced Excel" who wants to know what that means in practice.
  • Team leads who depend on shared spreadsheets and want to know when it is time to move to another tool.

What you will learn

  • Formulas other people can read: references, XLOOKUP, IFS and dynamic array functions.
  • Pivot tables and charts to summarise thousands of rows without copy and paste.
  • Power Query to clean and combine data from several sources with steps that rerun on their own.
  • Macros and VBA to automate repetitive tasks, knowing where their limits are.
  • Financial models: cash flows, budgets and scenarios.
  • Good practices so someone else can understand your workbook without having to call you.

Recommended order

  1. Formulas and references properly understood, lookups included. Everything else builds on this.
  2. Pivot tables and charts, to move from recording data to analysing it.
  3. Power Query, which replaces much of what used to be done with macros.
  4. VBA and financial modelling only if your job calls for them.

The Complete Excel Masterclass 2026: Beginner to Advanced

The Complete Excel Masterclass 2026 teaches Excel through business cases: before each practice you read a scenario and then solve the problem in the spreadsheet. We would recommend it to people comfortable in English who want a broad reference resource, with a syllabus that, according to the description, spans more than 400 topics across analysis, reporting and automation.

Excel en Tiempos de IA: Usa ChatGPT y Claude desde cero 2026

Excel en Tiempos de IA is aimed at people who already use Excel and want to lean on ChatGPT and Claude to write formulas, clean data and generate macros with less trial and error. We would recommend it as a complement rather than a first Excel course: its value lies in teaching you to ask the AI the right things and bring those answers back into your spreadsheet.

CURSO COMPLETO WORD, EXCEL Y POWERPOINT 2025

This complete Word, Excel and PowerPoint course is a practical option for anyone who needs to catch up on basic office software in one place and in Spanish. We would recommend it to students and to people returning to office work, because the published syllabus goes down to concrete tasks: reports with an automatic table of contents, grade or inventory tracking in Excel, and presentations built from scratch.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to learn advanced Excel?

With regular practice, the intermediate level (lookup formulas and pivot tables) takes a few weeks. What is usually called advanced, with Power Query, array functions and some VBA, takes a few months. People who practise on their own work files progress fastest.

What do employers mean by "advanced Excel"?

Usually, solid lookup formulas such as XLOOKUP, pivot tables, conditional formatting and data cleaning. Analysis and finance roles often add Power Query and sometimes macros. It is worth checking the specific job posting, because the term varies a lot between companies.

Is it still worth learning macros and VBA?

Yes, if you automate repetitive tasks in your own work, though it is no longer the first thing to learn. Power Query handles much of what used to need macros without code, and Office Scripts covers Excel on the web. VBA is still useful in finance and in companies with lots of legacy workbooks.

When does Excel stop being enough for a business?

When several people edit the same file at once, when a formula error can cost money without anyone noticing, or when the process depends on the one person who understands the macros. At TintoDev we replace that kind of spreadsheet with custom software, but Excel remains the right tool for personal analysis and prototypes.

Are there Excel courses in Spanish?

Yes, Excel is one of the areas with the most courses in Spanish, from beginner level to finance and VBA. The catalogue mixes Spanish and English courses, and each listing shows the language of the course. Keep in mind that function names change with the language (VLOOKUP is BUSCARV in Spanish), so a course in the same language as your Excel saves friction.
