Java and Spring

Current Java and Spring Boot, the enterprise backend standard.

Java still runs a large share of the systems at banks, insurers, telcos and public agencies, and much of the software built around them has to integrate with it. We see it on projects that need to connect to an enterprise core, or where the client already has a Java team and wants to stay on that stack. The language has also changed more than its reputation suggests: records, pattern matching, virtual threads and an LTS release every two years make it far less verbose than the Java many people remember from university. In this category we favour courses that teach modern Java, version 17 and later, and Spring Boot for building APIs with persistence, security and tests, which is what these teams actually ask for. We skipped the ones still on Java 8 as if nothing had happened. There are Spanish-language courses for the foundations and English ones for advanced Spring, where the reference material lives.

Who it is for

  • People who want to work at large companies, banks or consultancies where Java is the standard.
  • Developers who learned Java at university and need to catch up with current Java.
  • Backend developers from other languages who land on a Spring Boot project.

What you will learn

  • Object-oriented programming understood properly: interfaces, inheritance and when not to use inheritance.
  • Modern Java: records, streams, Optional, pattern matching and virtual threads.
  • Spring Boot: dependency injection, REST controllers and profile-based configuration.
  • Persistence with JPA and Hibernate, and the performance problems it hides.
  • Security with Spring Security and testing with JUnit and Mockito.

Recommended order

  1. Java and OOP from the ground up, on a recent LTS version. Skipping object orientation makes everything in Spring harder.
  2. Collections, streams and error handling, until you write idiomatic code without thinking about it.
  3. Spring Boot, building a complete API with a database.
  4. Security, testing and deployment last, on top of the API you already have.

Curso completo de Java 2026-De cero a Master

Curso completo de Java 2026 is a Spanish-language option for people who have never programmed and want to start with Java through a classic sequence: syntax, control flow and object-oriented programming. We would recommend it as a first contact with the language, knowing that the published syllabus stays at the fundamentals and you will need to add collections, databases and a framework afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to learn Java?

The language basics and object orientation take two to four months of steady practice. Building APIs with Spring Boot comfortably usually takes several more months, because the framework is broad and has many conventions of its own.

Java or Python to start with?

Python is easier as a first language; Java forces you to understand types and object orientation from the start, which makes other languages easier later. If your goal is enterprise backend or banking, starting with Java gets you closer to that market sooner.

Is Java useful for getting a job in Latin America?

Yes, especially in banking, insurance, telecoms and consultancies serving large companies. These roles are more stable than trendy, and they almost always ask for Spring Boot on top of the language.

Which Java version should I learn?

A recent LTS release: Java 21 or 25 if the course covers them, and Java 17 at the very least. Many companies still maintain Java 8 or 11, but learning the modern version and then working with older ones is much easier than the other way round.

Are there Java courses in Spanish?

Yes. The catalogue mixes Spanish and English courses, and each listing shows the course language. There is good Spanish material for the language basics; for advanced Spring Boot, it is worth checking the English ones too, since they usually update sooner.
